Alberta, Canada Follows Suit – “Albertan First” Pilot Program launched
After United States, Australia and New Zealand, Alberta, Canada becomes the first province to introduce a pilot program with aims at providing employment to the local population rather than hiring foreign nationals for the same.
Under the Pilot program launched, 29 highly skilled job categories shall be directed to a new service that will match the local workers. The platform provided by Employer Liaison Service shall connect the employers and local workforce n a pilot program.
“We’re putting Albertans first in line for available jobs across the province. By helping more people get work, we will strengthen Alberta’s economy; I’m proud to be launching this program as a joint effort between Canada’s and Alberta’s governments.”
– The Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour
We expect other provinces to follow the model specially at a time when mostly all countries are making it stricter for the foreign nationals to work and stay permanently in a foreign state.
